Performance and Convenience is a short experimental film constructed from archival footage sourced from the Internet. The work re-edits three mid-20th-century sources to explore shifting cultural narratives around technology, control, and desire.
Through recontextualisation, the film reflects on how moving images often function as tools of instruction, persuasion, and spectacle, promising new forms of ease, efficiency, and progress. By collapsing disparate fragments, Performance and Convenience highlights the contradictions of technological modernity, where where innovation is shadowed by obsolescence and risk.
The resulting tryptich transforms once utilitarian footage into a meditation on historical media history and its echoes in the present.
