Landscape (reimagined) is a dual-screen installation made with drone footage shot in and around the South Australian mining town of Andamooka. The footage itself is entirely composed with the camera angled straight down. The physical environment is flattened and fills the screen. Once captured, the footage was edited into short sequences before being datamoshed. This process produces the same sequence in two separate forms. One is a straight digital recording, and another is an abstract manifestation, expressed through the glitching aesthetics of corrupted video compression.
The two images are split in half and installed across two separate screens. Each split screen presents a reflected depiction of the cinematic landscape as both a physical place and a virtual environment. The installation aims to explore the complex entanglement of the virtual and the real, creating a hybridised cinematic environment where aesthetic distinctions collide, reconfigure and continually overlap.
